Japan's Financial Services Agency Enforces Crypto Regulations
The Japanese Financial Services Agency (JFSA) has issued warnings to five unregistered cryptocurrency exchanges, including KuCoin, Bitcastle LLC, Bybit Fintech Limited, MEXC Global, and Bitget Limited. These platforms have been providing services to Japanese users without adhering to the country's strict regulatory requirements outlined under the Payment Services Act (PSA). This act mandates all crypto exchanges operating in Japan to register with both the JFSA and the Financial Bureau. The JFSA highlighted the lack of supervision and potential risks for users, emphasizing the necessity of asset segregation and user protection measures. Additionally, Japan's recent regulatory upgrades, including amendments to the PSA and the implementation of the crypto Travel Rule, show its commitment to enhancing the security and compliance of the crypto marketplace. These strict measures ensure market integrity and investor safety, underscoring Japan's progressive stance towards creating a transparent and secure cryptocurrency environment.
