Ethereum Welcomes Facebook-Originated MoveVM in Upcoming Mainnet Beta Launch
MoveVM, originally developed by Facebook, is poised to make a significant impact on Ethereum with the imminent public beta launch of its mainnet by Movement Labs. This development facilitates the deployment of smart contracts and opens up new opportunities for blockchain builders, utilizing the pioneering MoveVM technology. The beta mainnet, launching with over $233 million in BTC, ETH, and MOVE liquidity, reflects strong community and investor interest, bolstered by the Cornucopia program. Originally part of Facebook's initiative to create its own digital currency, the MoveVM technology shifted focus after the project was discontinued in early 2022. It now underpins new layer-1 networks like Sui and Aptos in addition to enhancing Ethereum as a potent layer 2 solution. This strategic expansion into Ethereum could potentially unlock further innovations and applications across decentralized platforms.
